I worked in a culty, corporate retail job for over eight years—an experience I plan to write about in my future work. We used all the cringe jargon like “circle back,” “touch base,” and “deliverables.” So, in honor of my former life that revolved around luxury yoga pants and the rich people who bought them, I’d like to use my least favorite corporate word: "sunsetting,” to describe what’s going on in “Q1” of 2024.
I’m officially sunsetting my weekly advice column. She had a solid seven-month run. She helped me connect with readers like you while also earning a bit of income and promoting my debut book, Dry Humping: A Guide to Dating, Relating, and Hooking Up Without the Booze.

A Quick Note on Burnout
If this year taught me anything, it’s that I can do anything but not everything—especially not all at once while blindfolded and riding a unicycle and taking selfies and listening to an audiobook like I’ve tried my hardest to do.
I wrote about being broke here and feeling defeated by the publishing industry here. Being a debut author is freaking hard, y’all. But the dust is finally setting, and I’m ready for the next… chapter (sorry, I had to!).
I’m focusing on two main projects in 2024: my new NA drink and promoting my forthcoming sobriety card deck with my podcast co-host, Lisa Smith. I’ll discuss entrepreneur life and the publishing industry quite a bit in future issues of this newsletter.
Dry January Events
I’m also being selective about what I say yes to and which opportunities I politely decline. Something I’m *very* excited about is next week’s IRL event with one of my favorite comedians,
. Her new book, Sex For Lazy People: 50 Effortless Positions So You Can Do It Without Overdoing It, is just as funny as it sounds.Ginny is also sober, a subject she brilliantly weaves into her standup and writing (Watch here and here.) We’re two sober Millennials with new books about sex with cheeky titles. We’ll sign your books, maybe sign your boobs, and definitely give you the courage to have lazy sex without booze.
Not in NYC? I have a virtual event at 7EST with Emily Lynn Paulson on January 10th. We’ll talk about our cringeworthy past lives in MLMs, getting sober, and writing books about those journeys. More info coming soon!
Happy Humping and Happy New Year,
Tawny
Props to you on making the changes that serve you best!
