Ready to write the book that's been on your mind for years? Join me this fall for a series of virtual courses.
I teach two styles of book proposal classes. Book Proposal 101 is a one-night event covering the basic elements of a book proposal, while my Book Proposal Boot Camp is a six-week intensive for folks ready to write their proposal. I’m also offering a brand new course called Be Your Own Publicist.
Set Realistic Writing Goals for 2025
This class helps writers identify specific writing goals and provides actionable steps to actually accomplishing them in the new year. Whether you're working on something big like a book proposal or trying to find your voice as a writer, Crush Your 2025 Writing Goals is the course for you.
Identify Your Writing Goals: It tough to accomplish writing goals if you don’t know what your goals are. Tawny will guide you through a series of writing exercises designed to help you both identify your writing goals and create a path toward achieving them.
Get Specific: Whether you’re working on a book proposal or trying to create a writing routine, Tawny will help you get specific and strategic with your goal setting.
Take Control: Accomplishing big goals is all about taking small actions. Tawny will help you break your writing goals down into actionable items by identifying what’s in your control vs what’s out of your control.
15 Minute Q&A: Ask Tawny anything about publishing, DIY publicity, entrepreneurship, marketing, professional goals and more.
Book Proposal 101 (January 30, 7-9EST)
Want to write a nonfiction book but have no idea where to start? This virtual course will help you understand a book proposal and how to actually enjoy writing one.
Whether you're pitching a nonfiction book or a nonfiction card deck, Book Proposal 101: Stop Dreading It and Start Writing It will help you feel empowered by the proposal process rather than overwhelmed.
OK, you might still feel overwhelmed, but you can totally do this!

Be Your Own Publicist: How to Promote Your Writing
This virtual class helps writers, researchers, artists, and entrepreneurs learn how to promote their work without that cringey OMG-I-hate-self-promotion feeling. Whether you're looking for strategies on promoting an existing piece of work or creating a platform to prove that you're the expert on a subject, Be Your Own Publicist is the class for you.
This Be Your Own Publicist class is more than PR 101; it's a chance to reframe self-promotion as a strategy to promote your hard work and expertise.
Participants will emerge from this seminar with a comprehensive understanding of what exactly a publicist does and some DIY skills so attendees can approach publicity on their own.
Book Proposal Boot Camp
This 6-week virtual intensive course picks up where the 101 class left off. In a virtual group setting, students meet with me for two hours a week to finally dust off that old Google Doc and get to work. Each week is structured so students can focus on one aspect of a book proposal at a time rather than feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing at once.
Each session ends with a 20-minute Q&A where students can ask about publishing, proposals, finding an agent, preorder campaigns, and book marketing.
